The dispute over the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea (thank you, agga!), has been sort of on low simmer for forty some-odd years, but has flared up in recent months due to a plan by the Japanese government to 'purchase' the Diaoyu Islands (which they are calling the Senkaku Islands) from those whom they perceive to be the rightful owners (the Kurihara family) for two billion yen, now completed over the stringent complaints of the Chinese and Taiwanese governments, as well as the Chinese people in both countries.
